Making of Gibson Les Paul

Guitar Dept.

From the Office of Administration

There’s nothing like playing the guitar you’ve built with your own hands. If you’ve ever thought about buying a Gibson guitar, but the lack of cash, consider creating your own. If this is not an easy task, with a moderate amount of skill, you can also make a Gibson guitar.

First, buy all the necessary components of the guitar. This includes a neck, headstock, tuners, body (both as a Gibson Les Paul or SG), pickup, pickup rings, knobs, switch control, painting and guitar input jack. Looking for guitar parts on all materials, there may be other components that are needed (see Resources below).

Step 2
Buy all the necessary tools for the guitar. This may include saws, drills and drills, belt sander, welder and necklaces. If you already have a job in wood in his garage, then you have the tools you need.

Step 3
Start with a guitar design you have in mind. For Gibson Les Paul, see the Resources section below for a link to a website with the conceptual design of the guitar. But be sure to get an idea of what you want the guitar to look like before you start.

Step 4
Based on the front of the guitar body where you want the pickup to be done. You can use the design of the upstairs to make that decision. Once you’ve designed, you can use a saw to cut the piece of wood outside the body – but be sure not to go too far, because I do not want to end the whole body.

Step 5
Remove the timber pick-up holes that were cut. Now, draw the design of the guitar body. If you think a simple paint job, you can skip this step.

Step 6
Home wiring for the body. If you do not know where to go with this, find an online forum Gibson (see Resources below).

Step 7
Drill holes all the time for pickup, knobs, bridge and control plate. Again, consult a guide for the exterior, also take care to do the right thing.

Step 8
Painting the body of the guitar. Depending on the combination of colors please, this can be as simple as using a color and apply a few layers. If you think a spiral design, you want to paint the outer edge of one color and the inside of the guitar with another color.

Step 9
Paint the neck of the guitar. If you prefer that your neck for a guitar in natural wood, you can skip this step.

Step 10
Sand the paint on the guitar and paint it again if necessary. You want the guitar body to be fully painted and smooth.

Step 11
Apply a transparent layer of paint on the guitar. This kept the paint on your guitar, making sure it lasts longer and looks bright and ideal for many years.

Step 12
Guitar and the place where all the electronics. This is obviously the most difficult step, so check with the Gibson forum and other resources below.

Step 13
Attach the neck to the body. More than likely, you will use a bolt on neck, if you need to screw the neck of the guitar body. Do not tighten too light or too tight – should not be too rigid and should be snug.

And the final step, the string guitar and electronics testing. If everything is right, enough to build an electric guitar Gibson for a fraction of that cost you to buy something new.
